Friends and Family Remember Geoff

Geoff in England, standing behind his grandmother, Annie Allsup (left), and her sister, Dorothy Jennings.  Leslie Adams, Geoff's cousin is at the right end of the front row.  Standing next to Geoff in is James (Jim) Jennings, Dorothy's husband. As part of this family visit to Geoff's grandmother's original home country, Geoff and Leslie biked independently around England, Scotland and Wales.

Please post in the comments below to join these folks sharing memories about Geoff. Note: memories from Geoff’s colleagues are in the section called For the Ocean.

From Rudi Metz, Geoff’s brother in law:

I don't have any funny stories. I always had some topic in his expertise areas to talk about with geoff. Always happy and helpful but no jokes that I can remember. I have a "blanket" remembrance of him giving me quizzical looks that usually meant I was doing something that I should rethink before finishing and he was usually right!

From Brandon Estrella, a Ham Radio student

Geoff occasionally taught a short elective about ham radio at the Waldorf School of Cape Cod. Brandon Estrella was in the first such class where Morse Code was the main topic. Here’s what he wrote. (I will eventually provide a translation which will be in the section Through the Air.)

From Caroline Hopewell

I woke up this morning thinking of him. What a surprise to see your post this evening. Although i did not know him well, I admired his connectedness to his granddaughters and his sunny disposition. He was approachable and his smile was contagious.

From May Kernan

Despite the distance of time, I can remember Geoff so clearly. Blue as the ocean eyes, a serious and thoughtful disposition, a sudden break out of the deepest, most contagious laugh. A kind and gentle soul.

From Diane Sanzone

He was a kind and gentle man.
